The switch for the i85 transaxle is accessible at the front, to the left of the selector cable front cover, the front-left corner of the car would be easiest to raise by jacking up. Start, therefore, by disconnecting wiring plug from the switch then follow it up by removing the switch from the front of the transaxle, a process which is expected to result in some oil spill. On the MTX75 and MT285 transaxles the switch is located on the top of the transmission above where the air cleaner and battery usually resides; thus the air cleaner and battery tray, as well as the battery must be removed. Remove the wiring connected to the back-up light switch situated on top of the top of the transaxle, and remove the two screws to the multi- plug if the car is installed with MTX 75 transaxle. Next, remove the mounting bolts to pull out the back-up light switch from the cover housing on the transaxle where the procedures of installation would be the reverse of those of removal.
