How to remove and install the Brake Light Switch on the Ford Focus?

To remove the stop-light switch you first need to turn off the power by disconnecting the negative battery cable. After that, remove four screws with a scredriver, and using a flathead, take out a retaining clip to disconnect the dash lower panel, then unplug the multi-plug on the trim panel. Unplug the wiring connector from the brake light switch and using a quarter turn turn the switch anti-clockwise if it is in the upper part of the pedal or clockwise if it is in the lower part of the switch. For removal and adjustment of the switch turn the grub screw on the left of the switch through 360 degrees to unlock the switch body then fully extend the plunger After installation of the switch. Press the brake pedal down and keep it held down during the installation of the stop-light switch to the mounting bracket. After the switch is securely clipped in place depress the brake pedal, then take your foot off the pedal and allow it to return to the at-rest position-this will set the stop-light switch, at the appropriate adjustment. Last but not the leather, connect the wiring connector back to the terminal and the battery, then turn and toggle on the switch before fixing the lower dash panel back in place.
