To replace the latch, first scribe a line around it for alignment, then remove the retaining bolts securing it to the radiator support and take out the latch. Disconnect the hood release cable from the back of the latch assembly, and during installation, ensure the latch is adjusted so the hood engages securely when closed with the bumpers slightly compressed. For the cable replacement, detach the cable from the latch after removing the
Hood Latch, and take off the radiator cover by releasing the locking pins. Attach a length of wire to the end of the cable in the engine compartment to assist in pulling the new cable back. Detach the cable from all retaining clips, cutting some if necessary, then remove the left kick panel under the instrument panel, detach the hood release handle, dislodge the grommet, and pull the cable through the firewall into the cab. Attach the wire from the old cable to the new one, ensuring the new cable has a grommet, then pull it through the firewall into the engine compartment and seat the grommet. Complete the installation by reversing the removal steps.
