Start with 1997 and newer models by turning the windshield wiper switch On, the ignition key On and holding the key until the
Wiper Arms reach the straight up position, then turn the ignition back Off. Unplug the negative battery cable first, then take off the wiper arm and blade on the right, and if your specific car has these, you'll need to remove the cowl vent panels too. Pull the clip away from the wiper linkage until it leaves behind the motor crank pin and push it off the linkage. Separate the wiper linkage from its connection on the motor crank pin. Pull the connectors off the motor and arms, one at a time, by pulling back the small clip. Disconnect the electrical connector from the motor after doing this. Take out the motor by unscrewing it. Some screws are special stud/bolts that require removing the connected nut and electrical ground clamp before taking apart. Before joining the components, put the wiper arms into their parked position on the glass and then assemble everything back together. First, disconnect the negative battery cable. Lift the wiper arm away from the window. Remove the lift gate trim panel. Unscrew the bracket screws. Pull out the whole motor and bracket unit through the grommet opening. Unplug, release, and never forget to pull the motor out from where you put it. To put it back, do these steps backward.
