How to remove and install the inner Door Handle and Door Latch Assembly on a Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

Start by taking out the door trim panel and water-shield from 2001 and newer cars. With a screwdriver, carefully loosen the screws that keep the inner door handle assembly attached to the door. Remove the bolt holding the front door glass run channel at the bottom rear of the door, then disconnect the handle link from both the handle and lock cylinder. Find the glass adjuster, ease off the screw and play with the glass to align it. Disengage the rods from the latch, unscrew the latch bolts, and take out the whole latch unit by removing screw fixtures holding it inside the door. To reinstall the lock, follow the removal steps in reverse. Before putting the door panel back on, check that the new latch comes with rod retaining clips. Attach the control rod and lock cylinder rod to the latch when you install it. Tighten the latch screws good and tight.
