To remove the
Grille and the headlight trim and housing, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable. For 1997 and later models, take off the grille opening reinforcement panel by removing the plastic rivets and the air deflector on each side of the radiator, then remove the bolt holding the grille reinforcement panel to the hood latch support and the front
Bumper cover. If equipped, also remove the running board and the front section of the rocker panel trim. Open the front door to access and remove the single fender bolt, and for 1997 and later models, remove the fender-to-radiator core support bolt. If applicable, remove the radio antenna on right-side fenders. Open the hood to remove the four bolts across the top of the fender, and if the model has speed control, unbolt it from the fender when removing the right-side fender. At the top of the left-hand fender, remove the bolt securing the underhood fuse/relay box. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then detach the inner fender panel by removing screws or plastic rivets, which is easier if the front wheel/tire is removed. Next, remove the bolt at the lower front edge of the fender and the two bolts attaching the fender to the rocker panel, then carefully detach the fender from the vehicle, ensuring to remove the running board or front section of the lower rocker panel trim if necessary to access the two lower-rear fender bolts. For installation, reverse the removal procedure without fully tightening the bolts initially, then check the alignment of the fender to the door edge and the hood, tightening the bolts securely once the alignment is confirmed.
