To remove the latch the first step is to mark around the latch to be used as a line when reinstalling the latch, the next step is to remove the bolts that hold the latch to the radiator support and the last step is to detach the hood release cable from the back of the latch assembly. Installation is done in reverse and usually the latch is adjusted in a manner that when closed firmly on the cook top it has a slight dent on the bumpers. As for the cable, it becomes possible to pull the cable free from the hook but only after removing the hood latch and then to get at the hood release cable you must unbolt the parking brake pedal assembly in the passenger compartment and disconnect it from the release handle. Wipe a wire on one end of the cable to help pull the new cable back in the vehicle. In the engine compartment, free the cable from its clips, pulling the cable and the grommet into the compartment: then join the wire of the new cable to the handle end of it and make sure that the new cable also has a grommet. Pass the new cable through the firewall from inside the vehicle and then put the grommet in the firewall, then simply do the whole job in reverse of what was explained above.
