This procedure applies only to 1999 through 2004 models with conventional return-type fuel systems, as 2005 and later models use returnless fuel systems. Begin by relieving the fuel system pressure. Next, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the air filter housing, followed by the
Accelerator Cable and the splash shield. For V10 engines, the
Throttle Body must be removed, and depending on the model year, the throttle body spacer may need to be taken off to access the fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect the EGR vacuum regulator and remove its bracket if necessary. Then, remove the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator. To take out the fuel pressure regulator from the
Fuel Rail, on 1999 models, remove the two mounting bolts, while on 2000 and later models, remove the snap-ring and separate the pressure regulator from the fuel rail. Installation is the reverse of removal; ensure to install new O-rings on the pressure regulator and lubricate them with a light coat of oil before securing the mounting bolts for 1999 models or installing the snap-ring for 2000 and later models.
