The Bronco II's value driver that cut off is said to make a bump of the starter while in gear a non-event. In this case, a simple contact that opens or closes with a shifter movement will suffice. Rather than complicating matters further, such a concept seems reliable for its end purpose. In addition, it will ensure that troubleshooting is quick and easy. Over the years, Ford kept the concept consistent on the Bronco II, so there should not be any conflicting backgrounds of alternate Neutral Safety Switch setups, just that same protective rationale.
