Ford Bronco Release Bearing

The Ford Bronco Release Bearing is the small but vital link that lets the driver break engine power and grab a fresh gear without drama. Sitting in the clutch housing, the Release Bearing slides along a hollow shaft and pushes against the pressure plate springs the instant the pedal is pressed, separating the clutch disc from the flywheel. So the transmission can shift freely and then gliding back as the pedal lifts to restore power flow. Over the long history of the Ford Bronco, two actuation styles have been applied, cable driven and hydraulic, yet each relies on the same Release Bearing principle, with the cable type moved by a mechanical fork and the later hydraulic system using fluid pressure for smoother effort. Whichever system a particular Ford Bronco carries, symptoms of a tired Release Bearing remain alike, including pedal vibration, rattling noises, stiff engagement, and tough gear changes, all warning that this compact component, the Release Bearing, is wearing and threatening the confident drivability expected from a Ford Bronco.

We provide a wide range of Ford Bronco Release Bearing at the optimal prices. If you need Ford Bronco Release Bearing, you can shop with confidence on our website. All our OEM parts come with a manufacturer's warranty and are delivered to your doorstep with a fast delivery service.

Ford Bronco Release Bearing Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to measure the release bearing travel in external and concentric slave cylinders on Ford Bronco?
    A:
To inspect the external slave cylinders, first, lift the car and place it on jackstands at a safe height. Take a distance from the edge of slave cylinder to the clutch bearing release lever in the line with the pushrod. Do the same to the same points, but have an assistant depress the clutch pedal fully. The measurement of the travel on the release bearing is the difference between the two measurements and it should be checked out with the standard specifications of your transmission. If the results are less than specified, then the following may be the cause; Fluid level of the slave cylinder may be low, the clutch master slave cylinder may be leaking, the clutch or pedal may not be in the correct setting, there might be air in the system or the above reasons may be true in combination with each other. Such measurement if equal or above indicates that the hydraulic system is functioning as it is required to do. When you are through with the above tests, you should retract the jackstands and then lower the vehicle. For the concentric slave cylinder, get an adequate lifting of the car using jackstands, then, pull out the rubber plug in the inspection port which is found at the side or at the bottom of the transmission. Insert the end of a shortened steel ruler through the inspection port and along the length of the slave cylinder taking with clutch pedal fully up using the black plastic bearing retainer rear edge as reference. Make this check with the help of an assistant and perform the same on the same points with the clutch pedal being depressed fully. The release bearing travel measurement is provided by subtracting the two measurements and the result has to be compared with the transmissions' specifications. If the results are less than specified, the problems such as loose bolts or threads, incorrect installation of the components and others are possible, and if the measurement is equal to or greater than specified the hydraulic system is performing in the right manner. Last of all, you need to remove the jackstands and slow bring the vehicle to the ground.
