2014 Ford Taurus Crankshaft Pulley Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install Crankshaft Pulley and front Crankshaft seal in V6 engine on 2014 Ford Taurus?
A: To Disconnect the component, the first step is to provide a negative cable connector removal. Slightly turn counter clockwise the right front wheel lug nuts, then lift the front part of the car using a jack, place two jackstands and take off the wheel. First, the fender splash shield and skid plate if available must be removed next, release the drivebelt. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and use a two-pin spanner to keep the crankshaft pulley in place while you use a three-jaw puller to remove the crankshaft pulley while observing that the correct adapter had to be used on the puller and that the puller jaws should hug the crankshaft hub of the pulley. After that, use a seal puller to pull off the seal from the timing chain cover; pay attention to how deep and in which position the new seal has to be installed. During installation: Front cover and pulley seal surface should be smooth; should be free from any irregularities; Such irregularities if any should be corrected. Before fitting, the new seal should be coated with clean engine oil and the seal driver slid into the timing chain cover with the lip inwards. On 3.0L engines, treat the keyway and inner bore of the pulley with RTV sealant, while lubricating the outside of the sealant with clean oil: the pulley should be installed in four minutes since the sealant was applied, which also requires proper orientation of the keyway to the crankshaft key. It is advisable to use a new pulley bolt, then, turn the bolt to tighten the pulley to the set torque. Reversal of some of the removal process should be used to complete the installation; tighten the wheel lug nuts of the car to the appropriate torque, reconnect the battery, and start the engine to check for oil leakage.
