    How to remove and install an Ignition Lock Cylinder on Mercury Cougar? Posted by Krys K.
    A:
    To begin removal, you start by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. The steering wheel and if it has an upper cover on the tilt column is removed. Unplug the key warning buzzer's electrical lead and take off the column cover. Turn the ignition switch to Run and using a punch, depress the lock cylinder and remove it. To install, turn the lock cylinder to Run, depress the retaining pin, and snap it in place. Make sure it works well in all positions. Installation is the reverse of removal.
