Mercury AL8Z-7E395-A Shift Control Cable

Remove the gear shift lever and the center console, then trace the cables to the floor and unbolt the interior grommet. Working inside the engine compartment, remove the Shifter Cable retaining clips and then detach the Shifter Cables from the transaxle levers. Disconnect the cable retainer from the retainer bracket by pulling on the black pin and lifting the cable from the bracket. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the nuts securing the Shifter Cable retaining bracket. Inside the engine compartment, carefully remove the Shifter Cables one at a time from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
