The EGR system reduces NOx emissions by recirculating exhaust gases into the intake manifold, with the flow rate given by the Differential Pressure Feedback (DPFE) system. This system includes the EGR valve, vacuum regulator, DPFE sensor, PCM, EGR pipe, and vacuum and pressure lines. Issues can be diagnosed using trouble codes. Excessive flow causes rough running or stalling and insufficient flow leads to high combustion temperatures.

It was discontinued due to the introduction of Electronic Engine Control (EEC) systems and their associated EEGR system.

For EVR replacement, follow these steps. Disconnect the electrical connector.Label and detach vacuum hoses.Remove the regulator.

The EVR can be tested for voltage and resistance, and the DPFE sensor can be checked for signal voltage. Additionally, the EGR valve, EGR vacuum regulator, and DPFE sensor can be removed and replaced following the appropriate steps if necessary for component replacement.
