    How do you remove the Ignition Switch key lock cylinder for the 2005 Mercury Mariner? Posted by Verified Customer
    A:
    Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the steering column covers. Release the anti-theft module's locking tabs using a sharp-tipped pick and remove it from the ignition lock assembly. Insert the key, turn it to ACC, and use a thin rod to depress the lock cylinder release pin located on the underside of the ignition switch. While holding the pin down, gently pull the ignition key lock cylinder out of the ignition switch housing. Ensure that the key is in the ACC position throughout this process to facilitate smooth removal. Once removed, inspect the cylinder for any wear or damage before installation of a new unit.
