Remove the protective cover from the B+ terminal, then remove the nut and disconnect the battery cable from the B+ terminal on the solenoid. After that, remove the other nut and disconnect the starter cable from the S terminal on the solenoid.

On early models, the starter relay circuit can be checked by removing the push-on electrical connector from the relay and using a jumper wire to connect the battery positive terminal to the relay main terminal. If the starter motor operates with the jumper wire, the starter relay is functioning correctly, and the problem may be with the ignition switch, Neutral start switch, starter/clutch switch, or starting circuit wiring.

Follow the reverse of the removal process.

Check the ignition switch fuse and the starter relay.

Replace them with new ones, if equipped.

Abnormally slow starter motor cranking may be attributed to factors like a partially seized engine, incorrect oil viscosity, or issues with the battery and terminal connections.
