Before removing the instrument panel, the negative battery cable MUST be disconnected together with the instrument panel wiring connectors in the engine compartment. Next there are two screws holding the lower steering column cover, which has to be electrically disconnected, and the lower cover and ashtray and retainer must be removed. After this, you can uninstall the upper and lower steering column shrouds, the instrument cluster finish panel, and the radio assembly in case of having it installed. Subsequently, unbolt the screws which fasten the instrument cluster, disconnect the electrical connection and the nut which fix the instrument panel to the brake and clutch pedal support. Remove the wiring connection from the switches on the steering column and the front inside pillar mouldings, and the right side cowl trim cover and the lower right insulator under the instrument panel. Take out the two bolts that secure the instrument panel to the lower right side of the cowl and the two screws fixing it to parking brake bracket on the driver side and the four screws on the top of the instrument panel. Remove remaining electrical connectors and the heater/air conditioning controls as well, then pivot the instrument panel slightly forward and out of the vehicle; it will need to be physically wriggled around the steering wheel. During installation if the instrument panel is changed, all the mounting brackets and the switches must be transferred to the new instrument panel next, should be fitted within the vehicle and four screws on the top row must be screwed in after which the retaining screws located on the left and right sides should be tightened to ensure that the new mounting has not led to fit issues and that there are no pinched or cut wires. Fit the mouldings and trim panels, fit the heater/air conditioning controls and instrument panel switches, reconnect wiring switches to the steering column, and set in the instrument cluster, radio and assembly ashtray. Last, put the instrument cluster finish panel in place and the steering column shrouds back in place, reconnect all the wiring connectors in the compartment of the engine and reconnect the negative terminal cable of the battery and then and only then to check that all accessories work fine.
