Ford DG9Z-18124-M Shock Absorber Assembly

Detach the stabilizer bar link from the damper fork. If you're removing the stabilizer bar, disconnect the link from the bar.

Reassembly is a reversal of dismantling, noting the following points: The coil springs must be installed with the paint mark at the bottom. Make sure that the coil spring ends are correctly located in the upper and lower seats before releasing the compressor. When installing the spring, make sure the ends fit into the recessed portion of the seats. Tighten the piston rod nut to the specified torque.

Remove the three bolts securing the upper shock mount to the body. Remove the three shock mount-to-body bolts (2012 and earlier models).

Inspect the universal joint between the steering shaft and the steering gear housing, ensuring there is no lubricant leakage and that dust boots are undamaged with secure clamps.
