    Q:
What are the steps for removing and installing the rear drive axle on the 2013 Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
    A:
For rear drive axle removal on AWD models. Block the front wheels. Remove the rear wheel, wheel speed sensor, brake caliper, and brake disc. Remove the drive axle/hub nut. Use a drive hub remover to separate the drive axle from the wheel hub. On 2011 and later models, remove the hub and bearing assembly and rear knuckle. Pry out the inner end of the drive axle from the differential and remove it. For installation: Replace the spring clip. Apply grease to the seal area and insert the drive axle into the differential, ensuring the spring clip locks. Install the hub and bearing assembly, securing the drive axle with a new drive axle/hub nut. Tighten the nut with the brake applied, remove and discard it, then replace it with a new nut, tightening it promptly. Complete the installation, install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.

    Q:
What steps are involved in installing a new drive axle for the 2013 Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
    A:
To install a new drive axle. Replace the spring clip at the inner end. Lubricate the seals and insert the drive axle into the differential or intermediate shaft, ensuring the spring clip locks in place. For the left-side drive axle, position the clip gap at 6 o'clock for easier insertion. Apply grease to the outer CV joint splines. Secure the knuckle assembly and connect the lower control arm. Seat the drive axle with the old drive axle/hub nut, tighten it while preventing rotation, then replace it with a new nut, tightening within five minutes of initial threading. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.
