    Q:
How can the rear Wheel Seal be replaced without removing the transaxle on Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Oil leaks frequently occur due to wear of the wheel seals, and replacement of these seals is relatively easy since the repair can be performed without removing the transaxle from the vehicle. Wheel seals are located at the sides of the transaxle, where the driveaxles are attached. If leakage at the seal is suspected, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands; lubricant will be found on the sides of the transaxle, below the seals if the seal is leaking. Begin by removing the driveaxles, then use a screwdriver or prybar to carefully pry the seal out of the transaxle bore. If the seal cannot be removed with these tools, a special seal removal tool, available at auto parts stores, will be required. To install the new seal, use a large section of pipe or a large deep socket, slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the seal, as a drift. Drive it into the bore squarely and ensure it is completely seated, coating the seal lip with transaxle lubricant. Finally, install the driveaxle(s), taking care not to damage the lip of the new seal with the inboard splines of the driveaxle.

    Q:
How to replace the rear Wheel Seal on a Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, ensuring the transaxle is in Neutral with the parking brake off. Block the front wheels to prevent rolling. Remove the driveaxle(s). Carefully pry out the wheel seal using a seal removal tool or a large screwdriver, taking care not to damage or scratch the seal bore. Install the new wheel seal using a seal installer or a large deep socket as a drift, ensuring it is driven into the bore squarely and completely seated. Lubricate the lip of the new seal with multi-purpose grease before installing the driveaxle, being cautious not to damage the seal lip. Check the differential lubricant level and add as necessary to reach the appropriate level.

    Q:
How to remove and install Wheel Bearing and Wheel Seal on Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, analyse loosening the lug nuts on the rear wheels then the rear of the vehicle is to be raise and support on jackstands before the removal of the rear wheels for the removal of the axleshaft. After that, remove the rear brake drums and using a compressed air clean the surrounding of the carrier cover. Remove all the differential lubricant and then unbolt the differential shaft lock-bolt and pinion shaft: However, care must be taken when removing the bolts as in the case of Traction-Lok differentials the preload spring need not be removed. Move the axleshafts to the central position and remove the C-locks assembled to the button end, be very careful not to let the C-locks and the rubber O-ring fall off. Taken out the axleshafts PULLING out of the housing while ensuring that the oil seal is not spoilt. For oil seal and bearing replacement, use the rear axle bearing remover having a slide hammer by which the bearing as well as the oil seal can be extracted at one time, and then the rear axle housing bore should be cleaned. Apply copious amounts of grease to the new bearing and offer it then into the housing bore with an axial bearing driver tool or a large socket or an old bearing the trick is not to whack the inner bearing race. Grease the lips of the existing axleshaft seal and then fit a new one by using an installation tool or a large socket; be careful not to get the seal number reversed. For axleshaft installation the rubber O-ring should be positioned in groove and compressed to the outer end of it before fitting the axle into the housing and engaging the C-lock. Insert the differential pinion shaft through the case and pinion gears, so that the holes are in correct alignment, then apply thread locking compound to the lock-bolt and fasten it with the required tightness. Remove the old gasket from the rear axle housing and cover, and clean the gasket mounting surface on the cover, apply silicone sealant to this mounting area, and then bolt the cover back onto the housing and tighten in a star like manner. Pour in the right lubricant to the axle, replace the brake drums, wheels, and lug nuts in place, raise the vehicle to the standard height and tighten the lug nuts to the required torque.

    Q:
How can the rear Wheel Seal be replaced without removing the transaxle on Mercury Mariner? Posted by Customer
    A:
Oil leaks quite commonly arise from the wear and tear of the wheel seals; replacing these seals is quite accessible because the repair can be performed without extracting the transaxle from the car. Oil seals of the wheel are fixed on the sides of the transaxle where the driveaxles are connected. If leakage at the seal is suspected, remove the vehicle and support it on jackstands; if the seal is leaking, lubricant will be found oozing out on either side of the transaxle below the seal. Take out the driveaxles and using a screwdriver or bar, pry out the wheel seal that is fitted in the transaxle bore. If the above said tools are not able to help in the removal of the wheel seal, then there is a special wheel seal removing tool which is available in the auto parts stores. The new wheel seal should be fitted as follows; firstly, obtain a large section of pipe or a large deep socket, slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the seal as a drift. Center it properly and make sure it bottoms, using the transaxle lubricant to slick the lip of the new seal without distorting the lip of the new seal before you reinstall the driveaxle(s).
