- Q:How to remove and install CMP sensors in a Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer
- A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, then remove the engine cover, if equipped. For four-cylinder models, the CMP sensors are located at the top corners of the valve cover, above the left end of the intake and exhaust camshaft. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector and remove the sensor from the valve cover by removing the mounting bolt. Inspect the condition of the CMP sensor O-ring and replace it if necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal. For V6 models, on 2.7L models, the CMPs are mounted on the top of the valve covers, while on 3.5L and 3.7L models, the CMPs are mounted on the rear of the cylinder heads. There are four CMP sensors, two on the end of each cylinder head. Remove the air filter housing and air intake duct. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector and remove the CMP sensor from the cylinder head by removing the mounting bolt. Inspect the condition of the CMP sensor O-ring and replace it if necessary. Lubricate the sensor O-ring with clean engine oil.
