    How should you prepare the 2001 Lincoln Navigator for the transmission fluid replacement, including the Transmission Filter? Posted by Zhear Z.
    A:
    Raise the vehicle and securely support it on jackstands. Remove the transmission fill plug to facilitate quicker fluid drainage. If working on later Expedition/Navigator models, be cautious as the exhaust pipe may be close to the fill plug area, and wear gloves during this step.     How should you prepare the transmission pan and Transmission Filter for the 2000 Ford Expedition? Posted by Micah M.
    A:
    Clean the gasket surface of the transmission to remove all remnants of the old gasket and sealant. Drain the fluid from the transmission pan, clean it with solvent, and thoroughly dry it. Upon initial service, you may find a plastic plug in the bottom of the pan, which was used to keep contamination out during assembly. Discard this plug. Remove the old filter from the transmission. If the filter seal didn't come out with the filter, remove it carefully without damaging the seal bore. Install a new seal and filter.
