    How do you proceed with removing the water pump on the 2016 Lincoln MKX? Posted by Customer

    Loosen the water pump pulley bolts and remove the drive belt. For four-cylinder models, also loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and remove the right front wheel and inner fender splash shield. Remove the water pump pulley and the water pump itself by unbolting it from the engine block. Make sure to drain the coolant from the system before proceeding to avoid spills. Clean the mounting surface on the engine to ensure a proper seal for the new water pump. Install the new water pump, tightening the bolts to the manufacturer's specifications. Reattach the water pump pulley and drive belt, then reassemble any components that were removed, including the inner fender splash shield and right front wheel. Finally, refill the cooling system with the appropriate coolant and check for leaks before starting the engine.
