If you are working on a supercharged model, the inter cooler and inter cooler tubes must be removed to gain access to the pump. First, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, place a drain pan under the power steering pump and remove the drivebelt. Using a special power steering pump pulley remover, remove the pulley from the pump. A special puller is required to remove the power steering pump pulley. Next, remove the pressure and return hoses from the backside of the pump and allow the fluid to drain. Plug the hoses to prevent contaminants from entering. Remove the pump mounting bolts, first remove the pump bracket bolts and the bracket, then remove the power steering pump bolts and lift the pump from the vehicle, taking care not to spill fluid on the painted surfaces. To install, position the pump in the mounting bracket and install the bolts. Tighten the bolts securely. Connect the hoses to the pump and tighten the fittings securely. Press the pulley onto the pump shaft using a special pulley installer tool. A special pulley-installer tool is need to push the pulley onto the pump shaft-under no circumstances should the pulley be hammered onto the shaft as this would damage the pump. Push the pulley onto the shaft until the front of the hub is flush with the end of the shaft, but no further. Install the drivebelt. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid and bleed the system.
