First it is necessary to make a reference point outside the edge of the windshield and then remove the previous adhesive using a razor blade. Any remaining adhesive must be cleaned with a chlorine window cleaner and the use of any petroleum based solvent must be avoided. It is crucial that all the instructions be followed a manufacturers instructions to see the end of the repair.

    Remove the door trim panel and the plastic watershield. Disconnect the electrical connector from the mirror, which on most models will require removal of the radio speaker for that door to access the mirror connector. Peel back the insulator pad, then remove the three mirror retaining nuts and detach the mirror from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
