The piston must be pushed back into the caliper bore using a C-clamp. As the piston is depressed, the fluid in the master cylinder will rise slightly. Ensure there is sufficient space in the brake fluid reservoir to accept the displaced fluid, and siphon some off if necessary. Clean any spilled brake fluid from paintwork immediately, as it is a highly effective paint-stripper.
