    How to install a new instrument cluster on Ford Excursion? Posted by Customer

    If installing a new instrument cluster, it is necessary to first have the configuration information from the old cluster recorded onto a factory scan tool for installation onto the new cluster; contacting a dealer or qualified service facility for more information is recommended. Begin by disconnecting the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). Next, tilt the steering wheel to its lowest position and remove the instrument cluster finish panel. Then, remove the instrument cluster retaining screws located on both the left and right sides. Carefully pull the instrument cluster out and unplug the electrical connectors from the backside, then remove the cluster from the instrument panel. For models equipped with automatic transmissions, detach the transmission range indicator by pushing the clips and removing the transmission selector indicator from the instrument cluster. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal.
