Ford E1GZ-1104-E Hub Assembly - Wheel

After installation, install the wheels, lower the vehicle, and tighten the wheel lug nuts to the torque specified in the Specifications.

For 2010 and earlier models, separate the upper arm from the wheel knuckle, place a floor jack under the lower arm, remove the lower shock absorber bolt, and detach the upper stabilizer bar link and outboard toe link. Pull the drive axle out and secure it in a safe position. Next, remove any additional components such as the brake caliper and rotor to gain better access to the suspension assembly. Ensure that all electrical connections and brake lines are properly disconnected to prevent damage. Finally, inspect the surrounding components for wear or damage before proceeding with the installation of new parts.

Unbolt and set aside the caliper and caliper mounting bracket. Do not let the caliper hang by the rubber brake hose; wire the caliper to the spring or shock absorber with mechanic's wire.

With an assistant applying the brakes, remove the driveaxle/hub nut.

First, apply the parking brake and loosen the wheel lug nuts. Then, raise the front of the vehicle and securely support it on jack stands. Remove the wheel and brake disc. Next, remove the hub dust cap and nut, and push the drive axle through the hub splines while removing the hub and bearing assembly. Care should be taken not to overextend the inner CV joint. Finally, support the outer end of the drive axle with a length of wire or rope.
