Ford 6E5Z-1104-AB Hub Assembly - Wheel

For models prior to the year 2012, when it comes to pressing the hub and bearing within the steering knuckle, use of special tools and skills is needed and therefore it is recommended that the work be left to an experienced mechanic. Still, the steering knuckle and hub can be removed, and it can be brought to the automotive machine shop or any qualified repair shop which will have the necessary tools. For 2013 and later models, it initializes by unscrewing of the wheel lugs, lifting of the car and placing on two jackstands, and then the wheel can be removed. When an assistant is helping by holding the brake apply the nut on the driveaxle/hub. If fitted, unbolt the front height sensor arm bracket retaining bolt, and put the height sensor to the side. Then, it will be necessary to take out the brake disc, and further-the driveaxle from the hub. Then remove the four hub mounting bolts that is provided at the back side of the steering knuckle and then extracts the hub & bearing assembly from the knuckle. Upon removal, installation occurs in reverse order, that way the joint faces and hub and bearing assembly faces should be clean. After securing the two mounting bolts diagonally until they reach a certain torque value, the brake disc and brake caliper also requires to fit by tightening the mounting bolts with a certain torque value and last but not the least tightening the driveaxle/hub nut to a certain torque value. Lastly, fit the wheel and the wheel lug nuts and then lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the recommended tightness.

Remove the brake disc.
