    Using a small screwdriver, detach the retaining clips at both ends of the support strut. Then pry or pull sharply to detach it from the vehicle. Use a small screwdriver to pry the clip out of its locking groove, then detach the end of the strut from the locating stud. Have an assistant support the liftgate before attempting to remove the support strut.
