Masking tape should be positioned vertically on the wall in reference to the vehicle centerline and the centerlines of both headlights, and a horizontal tape line should be positioned in reference to the centerline of all the headlights.

Push the headlight housing retaining clips rearward, then pull upward on the clips to release the headlight housing. For 2003 through 2006 models, loosen, but do not remove, the vertical bolt behind the headlight housing. Remove the two bolts securing the top of the headlight housing to the body. On 2007 and later models, there is no vertical bolt.
