    Q:
How is the fuel filter replaced on Ford Explorer Sport Trac? Posted by Customer
    A:
The fuel filter is inside the left frame rail and before starting it is necessary to buy new filter designed for specified engine. The fuel injection system filters are made to be high-pressure resistant ones, and as such they are only costlier than those of carbureted systems, which may explode if used under high pressure. Make sure that in the new filter the hairpin clips are replaced as reuse of the clips is discouraged. The front end of the vehicle should be at a higher level than the rear end to avoid siphoning of fuel, if it has the feature of Automatic Ride Control, the air suspension switch should be off before lifting the vehicle. Take off the cap of the gas and with the help of the screw driver check the fittings of the hose at the two ends of the filter for presence of dirt and if found clean them. Loosen the push-connect fittings on the filter it may require disconnection of bolts and a shield in some fewer models. Someone should also observe the arrow on the filter so that the new filter is fitted in the same position. The old filter can be released by turning the clamp-screw anticlockwise in order to receive the new filter, which has to be placed in the bracket according to the arrow with the clamp screw tight in clockwise direction. In some models, the filter may lock to a spring clip or two clips which are available on the head unit. Last of all, attach each of the hoses to the filter and switch on the engine to identify any case of fuel leakage.

    Q:
How is the fuel filter replaced on Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The fuel filter is mounted within the left frame rail, and replacement at 30,000 miles is recommended for California vehicles, though not required. Fuel filters on later model vehicles may vary slightly in shape and fittings, so it's important to match the new filter with the old one to ensure compatibility. Before starting, obtain a new fuel filter and position the front end of the vehicle higher than the rear to prevent fuel siphoning. Remove the gas cap and reinstall it after relieving the fuel system pressure. Inspect the hose fittings at both ends of the filter for cleanliness; if there is more than a light coating of dust, clean the fittings before proceeding. Disconnect the push-connect fittings from the filter, and on some models, it may be necessary to remove the fuel filter mounting bracket nut before the filter can be removed. Note the direction of the arrow on the filter, as the new filter must be installed the same way. Loosen the clamp screw and detach the filter from the bracket, then install the new filter in the bracket with the arrow pointing in the correct direction and tighten the clamp screw securely. Carefully connect each fuel line to the filter, start the engine, and check for fuel leaks.

    Q:
How to replace a fuel filter on Ford Focus? Posted by Customer
    A:
The fuel filter is under the vehicle in front of the fuel tank. Check hose fittings for cleanliness. Clean if necessary. Relieve fuel pressure and disconnect battery cable. There are two types of quick-connect fittings: "squeeze" and "push clip". Disengage by pressing or pulling locking tangs. Pull fuel hoses off filter. Be prepared for fuel spillage. Loosen clamp with screwdriver. Note filter direction. Remove and install new filter in same direction. Push hoses onto filter until seated and locked. Reconnect battery cable and check for fuel leaks.

    Q:
How to replace the fuel filter on Ford Ranger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The fuel filter is mounted within the left frame rail. The manufacturer recommends replacing it at 30,000 miles for California vehicles, but it's not required. The fuel filters on later model vehicles may vary slightly, so match the new filter with the old one to confirm it's correct. Position the front end of the vehicle higher than the rear, remove and reinstall the gas cap to relieve fuel system pressure. Inspect and clean the hose fittings if necessary. Disconnect the push-connect fittings from the filter. Remove the fuel filter mounting bracket nut if needed. Note the arrow on the filter for installation direction. Loosen the clamp screw and detach the filter from the bracket. Install the new filter with the arrow pointing the right way and tighten the clamp screw. Connect each fuel line to the filter. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

    Q:
How to replace a fuel filter on a Lincoln Navigator? Posted by Customer
    A:
This procedure requires a special fuel line disconnect tool available at auto part stores. The fuel filter is mounted under the vehicle on the left frame rail. On later Expedition/Navigator models, there is a plastic protective cover over the fuel filter. Twist the fasteners counterclockwise to remove the cover. Inspect the hose fittings for cleanliness. Clean if necessary. Relieve fuel system pressure. Remove safety clips from the inlet and outlet lines. Use the disconnect tool to release the fuel lines from the filter. Pull the hoses straight off the filter. Check clips for damage. Loosen the filter mounting clamp with a screwdriver. Remove the filter and install the new one in the same direction. Push hoses onto the filter and secure with clips. Start the engine and check for leaks.
