    The crankshaft can be removed only after the engine has been removed from the vehicle. It is assumed that the flywheel or driveplate, vibration damper, timing chain, oil pan, oil pump, and piston/connecting rod assemblies have already been removed.     Cut several pieces of the appropriate size Plastigage and place one piece on each crankshaft main bearing journal, parallel with the journal axis. Clean the faces of the bearings in the caps and install the caps in their respective positions without disturbing the Plastigage.
