    What steps are involved in removing the compressor, and what additional steps are needed for the 2009 Ford Focus? Posted by Customer

    The compressor should be discharged and recovered at a service department or repair facility. Remove the undershield and loosen the auxiliary drivebell. Unscrew the clamping bolt to disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor. For 2008 and later models, remove the engine cooling fan or lower radiator air deflector. Remove the drivebelt shield and the drivebelt. Detach the power steering line and the air conditioning discharge line from the compressor. Unbolt the compressor from the cylinder block and unplug its electrical connector.
