    How is the evaporator removed, and what additional steps are involved for the 2009 Ford Focus? Posted by Customer

    The evaporator is mounted inside the heater housing and requires removal of the instrument panel. Unbolt the heater unit assembly from the firewall to remove the evaporator. For 2008 and later models, detach the wiring harness and remove the lower radiator cross member. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser and support the cooling module. Remove the mounting bolts from the condenser and remove it.
