- A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. On 2015 and later model four-cylinder models, locate the four grommets under the engine cover then carefully pull up at each grommet until all the grommets are free from the ballstuds and remove the engine cover. On 2014 and earlier four-cylinder models, remove the air filter outlet duct, then remove the EVAP canister purge valve fastener and move the valve out of the way. On 2.7L V6 engines, remove the engine cover fasteners and cover, then disconnect the three quick-connect fittings and move the EVAP hoses out of the way for the front (left) bank coils. To access the rear (right) bank coils, remove the right hand air filter housing outlet pipe. On 3.5L and 3.6L engines, remove the engine cover fasteners and cover, then disconnect the PCV quick-connect fitting and move the hose out of the way. To access the rear (right) bank coils, remove the upper intake manifold. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil. Remove the mounting fasteners from the ignition coil. Grasp the coil firmly and pull it off the spark plug. Installation is the reverse of removal.Posted by FordPartsGiant Specialist
