    Check each hydraulic lash adjuster for excessive wear, scoring, pitting, or an out-of-round condition. Replace as necessary. Measure the outside diameter of each adjuster at the top and bottom. If any measurement is significantly different, the adjuster is tapered or out of round and must be replaced. Measure the diameter of the lash adjuster and the inside diameter of the corresponding cylinder head bore to obtain the oil clearance. Compare the measurements to those given in Specifications.
