Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. For 4.2L V6 models, remove the alternator drivebelt, disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator, remove the rubber weather boot from the alternator B+ terminal nut, remove the nut, and disconnect the battery cable from the B+ terminal. Next, remove the nut that attaches the air conditioning line bracket to the alternator and set the air conditioning line and bracket aside, followed by removing the nut that attaches the alternator electrical harness bracket to the alternator and setting the alternator harness and bracket aside. Remove the two alternator stud bolts and take out the alternator, ensuring that installation is the reverse of removal and that the alternator mounting studs are securely tightened. For 4.6L and 5.4L V8 models, on 2009 and later models, remove the air intake duct, then remove the alternator drivebelt, detach the alternator harness clip from the alternator support bracket, and remove the lower alternator support bracket bolts. After that, remove the alternator B+ terminal nut and disconnect the battery cable from the B+ terminal, followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the alternator. Remove the two lower alternator mounting bolts to detach the alternator, ensuring that installation is the reverse of removal with secure tightening of the alternator mounting bolts and support bracket bolts. For 3.5L and 3.7L V6, and 5.0L and 6.2L V8 models, remove the air intake duct, and for 3.5L V6 engines, remove the air cleaner pipe-to-turbocharger pipe and the turbocharger-to-charge air cooler pipe. Remove the drivebelt, then remove the alternator B+ terminal nut and disconnect the battery cable from the B+ terminal, followed by disconnecting the electrical connector from the alternator. Finally, remove the two alternator mounting fasteners and take out the alternator, ensuring that installation is the reverse of removal with secure tightening of the alternator mounting fasteners.
