For every gallon of fuel, a Town Car draws in as much as 10,000 gallons of air. The Air Filter Box prevents dust, sand, leaves, and abrasive metal specks from reaching the pistons, rings, or cylinder walls where they can grind them away. The purpose of the Air Filter Box housing is to protect the air filter from road splash and debris rattling.     Q: How to remove the Air Filter Box on Lincoln Town Car fuel-injected engine?
    A:
    To remove the air intake assembly, detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, loosen the bolt(s) from the air intake assembly on the intake manifold and the clamps on the air filter box. Remove the air intake assembly from the engine compartment by removing the mounting bolt and clamp and remove the air filter box mounting nuts and detach the assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
