These relays start the compressor and blower. They also stop the compressor and blower. In this way, they prevent wasteful use of fuel and prohibit unwanted hot or cold blasts. - Q: How to remove and replace the A/C Switch in the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) on Lincoln MKX?A:The A/C switch is incorporated in the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM), and if there is a problem, the entire module must be replaced. To remove the module, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, remove the left and right floor console upper trim panels. For Edge models from 2014 and earlier, place the shift lever in the neutral position and remove the floor console trim screws. Slide the panel back and remove the FCIM retaining screws to take out the module. For Edge models from 2015 through 2018, remove the left and right floor console side trim panels and the U-shaped trim around the floor shift console. Remove the shift console/cup holder trim panel and the storage compartment. Remove the floor console support fasteners and the instrument panel center vents. Remove the FCIM retaining screws and disengage the retaining clips to remove the module. For 2019 models, open the floor console storage armrest and disengage the retaining clips around the perimeter of the shift console/cup holder trim panel. Remove the panel and disconnect the electrical connectors. Disengage the storage bin edge trim fasteners and remove the trim pieces. Remove the storage compartment and the gear shift module (GSM) console frame assembly. Pry out the instrument panel center vents and remove the FCIM retaining screws and clips to remove the module. For MKX models from 2015 and earlier, remove the screws from the lower corners of the FCIM and disengage the retaining clips to remove the module. For MKX models from 2016 and later, open the floor console storage armrest and disengage the retaining clips around the perimeter of the floor console/cup holder trim panel. Remove the panel and disconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the floor console upper side trim panels and the storage compartment. Disengage the center speaker grille fasteners and remove the instrument panel center speaker. Remove the FCIM retaining screws and clips to remove the module. Finally, disconnect the electrical connectors at the module and reverse the steps for installation.
