- Q: How to remove and refit the A/C Switch on the heater control assembly of Ford Pinto?A:Undo and remove the two A/C Switch-to-instrument panel mounting screws located on the face of the A/C Switch. Release the mounting bracket clips and disconnect the cables from the two door crank arms. Pull the A/C Switch and cables out from the opening in the instrument panel, and then disconnect the cables from the control levers. Refitting the A/C Switch is the reverse sequence to removal. It will be necessary to reset the cables as described next. Slacken the temperature control cable mounting clip located near to the door crank arm. Move the temperature control lever to the full COOL' position and then bring it back by 0.125 in (3.175 mm). Move the door crank arm towards the mounting bracket and tighten the clip. Slacken the function control cable mounting clip located near to the door crank arm. Move the function control lever to the "FLOOR' position. Position the door crank arm midway between the two dots on the plenum chamber and tighten the clip.
