Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and raise the vehicle, placing it securely on jackstands. For 2010 and earlier models, the automatic transmission speed sensors are located on the left side of the transmission: the front sensor is the Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor, the middle is the Intermediate Shaft Speed (ISS) sensor, and the rear is the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor. Disconnect the electrical connector from the TSS, ISS, or OSS sensor, then remove the mounting bolt for the sensor. Take out the old O-ring from the sensor and discard it, ensuring a new O-ring is installed on the sensor, even if the old sensor is being reused. Installation follows the reverse order of removal, making sure to tighten the sensor mounting bolt securely. For 2011 and later models, there are two speed sensors: the TSS and OSS sensors, both located in the valve body of the transmission, which should be taken to a local dealer or qualified repair shop for repair. In manual transmissions, the OSS sensor is located on the right side of the transmission, near the rear end of the transmission extension housing. Disconnect the electrical connector from the OSS sensor, remove the mounting bolt, and take out the OSS sensor from the transmission extension housing. Discard the old OSS sensor O-ring and install a new one, even if the old sensor is being reused, with installation being the reverse of removal and ensuring the mounting bolt is tightened securely.
