If one needs to get at the headlight switch and the instrument panel dimmer switch, then one needs to remove the cable from the battery negative terminal. On the 2009 and earlier models, to complete the removal of the headlight switch, one has to take away the finish panel at the left end of the instrument panel, penetrate through the opening and push out the switch panel, disconnect the electric connectors of the headlight switch and rheostat, then disconnect the switch assembly from the panel. In assembling the switch, make sure that when the switch is to be installed, it clicks into place, this is the process that is the reverse of the process of switch removal. On 2010 & later models, the knee bolster must be detached first, then there is the switch panel mounting screw that needs to be taken out to have the panel & switch propped out; the electrical connectors need to be disconnected and the locking tabs need to be unlocked to replace the headlight switch. The rheostat should be replaced by simply pressing the two locking tabs provided and then disengaging the switch assembly. For message center switches and the Traction Control System switch/hazard flasher switch remove the centre trim panel, pull the two retaining tabs and disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 2009 and earlier models. Proper installation is also important and this can be done by check if the switch has snapped in place properly. As for the 2010 and later models, only revoked the knee bolster to reveal a critical screw of switch panel, disconnected related electric connectors, and guarantee that the switch can be snapped in during assembly. On the hazard flasher switch and traction control switch, remove the trim around the shift lever, pop up the floor console, then remove the connector to the switch and remove and fit the switch to the panel so it clicks into place.
