If the tie-rod end has to be replaced then the nuts of the front wheel have to be loosened and the vehicle has to be put on jackstands, the parking brake has to be engaged and the front of the vehicle has to be raised and supported before the front wheel is to be removed. Third, using locking pliers or a wrench, temporarily loosen the jam nut so that you can align with the threads the tie-rod end and mark it. Take the cotter pin off but do not unbolt the nut on thread of the tie-rod end to a considerable extent. Unbolt the tie-rod end from the
Steering Knuckle arm using a puller, and thereafter, remove the nut and take off the tie-rod end. Remove the nut and bolt of the tie-rod end from the tie-rod. For installation the tie rod end is mated over the marked position and the stud passed through the steering knuckle arm in such a manner that is tight with the jam nut. The nut is then to be put on the stud and tightened to the desired torque, before replacing the cotter pin with a new one. At last, apply the wheel and lug nuts, then drop the car, and adjust the lug nuts to the right torque level; better still, check for alignment and adjust it if necessary.
