How to remove and install a CMP sensor on a Ford Fusion?

Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. For four cylinder models, the CMP sensor is at the top corners of the valve cover. Remove the engine cover and disconnect the CMP sensor connector. Remove the sensor and check the O-ring condition. For V6 models, the CMPs are on the valve covers or cylinder heads. Detach the wiring harness clip or remove the interference capacitor or air intake duct as needed. Disconnect the CMP sensor connector, remove the sensor and check the O-ring. Lubricate the O-ring with clean engine oil before installation.
