It is imperative that in the case of a fault that identification is made as to whether it is an electrical, mechanical or hydraulic fault before any repair work can take place. Diagnosis involves having information on how the transmission works and being in possession of equipment which is specialty used in testing the transmission to be complex to undertake by a DIYer and therefore, it is recommended to visit the dealer service department or any other authorized repair shop for diagnosis. What has to be remembered is that the transmission should not be ripped out until a qualified mechanic with the right equipment has inspected/examined the vehicle because diagnostics have to be run with the transmission still in the car.
