How to remove and install the rear tailgate handle and tailgate latch assembly on Ford F-150?

Lower the tailgate and remove the access cover by taking out the cover screws to reach the inside of the tailgate. Next, remove the latch mounting fasteners by loosening the tailgate latch retaining screws, which may require an impact driver. Disconnect the control rods from the latch and take the latch out of the door. For installation, follow the reverse process of removal. Disconnect the control rods by disengaging the handle-to-latch rods and removing the handle retaining nuts. Detach the retaining nuts and take the handle assembly off the tailgate, with installation again being the reverse of removal.
