How to remove and install the Headlamp assembly on Ford Explorer Sport Trac?

Disconnect the negative battery cable. For 2001 models, open the hood and remove the plastic Headlamp cover by prying up and removing the two retaining pins on the Headlamp housing, then release it from the body. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the housing. Take off the plastic panel across the top of the radiator; on early models, it is attached with screws and plastic rivets, while on 1997 and later models, each side of the panel is hinged, allowing you to release a catch and flip the hinged cover up for access to the rear of the Headlamp assembly. Remove the screws and the turn/park light assembly. For 1996 and earlier models, remove the grille. Using needle-nose pliers, squeeze the plastic clips on the Headlamp housing to release it from the body. Installation is the reverse of removal.
