In the engine compartment, locate the resistor near the blower motor. Disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s) and the resistor electrical connector. Remove the resistor mounting bolts and the resistor. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the blower motor, disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). On diesel models, disconnect the electrical connector and the vacuum line from the vacuum pump, remove the pump from the three rubber insulators by pulling it straight up, remove the pump mounting bracket bolt and remove the bracket. On gasoline models, remove the cruise control servo mounting bracket bolts, remove the servo and bracket assembly and set it aside. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor. Remove the blower motor cooling tube. Remove the blower motor mounting screws and remove the blower motor. To separate the blower fan from the motor, grasp the retaining washer with pliers and pull it off or pry it off with a small screwdriver, being careful not to crack it or the fan. To reinstall the retaining washer, simply push it on to the shaft, but make sure that it's still snug. If the retainer washer is loose, replace it. Installation is the reverse of removal.
