  For the removal of the rocker arms and lash adjusters there are two possibilities on this model engine. In the option proposed by the manufacturer, it is possible to remove the rocker arms in place, without taking out the camshafts; in this work, a special tool-a valve spring compressor for the SOHC engine-is used. This compressor pivots with the aid of the camshaft and with ratchet or breaker bar presses down the valve spring and the tension on the rocker arm is released. The other is removal of the camshaft from the engine and analysis of it accompanied by replacement of the defective one. Both ways are effective, but it is less complicated if one can use the manufacturer's special tool on it if accessible. First of all, take off the valve cover alone or with its gasket depending on the degree of the damage it has. Next, fit in the valve spring compressor and to remove the rocks merely enough that you not confound the camshaft rocker arms or valves hydraulic lash adjusters; keep all components identified so that you do not scramble them again during assembly. Take out the hydraulic lash adjuster and in the case you find it hard to remove it be because of varnish, apply penetrating oil. Check each adjuster for signs of wear or any other problems regarding them and /or when there is valve noise the adjusters should be replace. It is recommended that before installing the lash adjusters they should be bled of air and to do this the adjuster should be placed in a container of oil and using a thin wire or paper clip the plunger should be pushed up and down to prime the adjuster. To lubricate the valve stem tip, the rocker arm and the lash adjuster bore apply clean engine oil, install the lash adjusters and rocker arms when the valve spring is pressed down. An installation process is the reciprocal of the removal process, that is, it is a process of setting something into place. On restarting the engine there may be noise until all the air has been cleared from the lash adjusters: therefore warm up the engine, and increase the speed from idle to 3000 rpm for one minute, cool off and then start-no noise should be heard.
